Abstract EN

Eng/ That the study of the extension knowledge needs of beekeepers is the starting point in the planning successful extension programs in order to develop this important agricultural industry because of its role in supporting the national economy.

Research identify targeted the following objectives ;- 1-Determine the level of need for extension of knowledge in the field of management apiaries in the province of basrah.

2-Determine the level of extension knowledge needs in each axis of the main axes of the four (bees strains, pests that infect community's bees, and division of the hives).

3-Determine the correlation between the level of extension knowledge needs and all of the following independent factors (age ,sex ,education ,number of years of practice of the profession ,the number of cells that owned by breeders, agricultural land tenure establishing the project, average output annual vernal, average of autumnal annual production, Sources of information for beekeepers) To achieves the objectives of the research the researcher established questionnaire form in the light of the literature and the views of experts and developed two parts first part of which included the aforementioned independent factors the second part has included paragraphs test extension knowledge need for beekeepers and consisting of (34) items were distributed four axes :- (Strains of bees ,bee pests ,artificial feeding ,create partitions).

Data were collected in July and Augus -2013 by the questionnaire and in a personal interview of the study's 150 bee breeders, took them a proportionate stratified random sample by 40 % ,and the sample 60 breeders.

Search results proved that (70%) of the total sample of those with high extension knowledge needs and the medium in general ,and the results showed a discrepancy in the need extension cognitive respondents in each axis of the Management of apiaries as log axis strains of bees top the need for rate ,followed by the axis create partitions ,then the axis of bee pests and then axis of artificial feeding.

Has appeared though and there is correlation significant and non-between extension knowledge need and all of the following factors independent :- (Age, sex, educational level ,number of years of practice of the profession ,the number of cells ,agricultural land tenure project ,the level of production spring ,autumnal production level ,the level of contact with sources of information).

The research recommended the need to intensify extension activities of organization for beekeepers ,and most breeders need to extension programs in subjects styles and modern techniques in managing apiaries ,and to be building extension programs based on the identification of needs extension knowledge actual and the need to set up courses extension specialist ,confirms beekeeping axes task and extension activities include all breeders of both sexes , as well as include all educational levels.

The researcher suggested that include initial studies in the College of Agriculture in all its divisions scientific study methods and curriculum extension , as well as the continuity of accepting graduate students annually to obtain graduate degrees in the field of Agricultural Extension Specialist of all scientific departments in College.
