Social marginalisation is one of the most controversial concepts used in sociology and neighbouring fields, it is conceptualized in various contexts and languages of political and social debates.

It is mostly problematic to provide a precise definition to a given social phenomenon, which presents a challenge to researchers in this field.

However, researchers are very accurate and attempt to create operational and meticulous definitions.

This survey attempts to carry out an analysis of the concept of social marginalisation in order to understand its real meaning, reasons behind its development, problematics that it may give rise to as well as its impacts on scientific and practical levels.
