Background& Objective: The hydrodynamic activation of NaOCL plays an important role in increasing its disinfectant efficacy.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a 5.25% sodium hypochlorite Activated by EndoActivator device in reducing the bacterial load in the infected root canal.

Materials & Methods: 80 infected canals (upper incisor / lateral incisor) were instrumented by pro-taper system and irrigated by 10 ML saline solution.

All canals were sampled (S).

these canals were divided randomly into four equal groups (20) and irrigation protocol was applied as follow: First group (N20) NaOCL was left inside the canals for 20 seconds without activation, the second one (N45).

NaOCL left inside the canals for 45 seconds without activation also.

The two residual groups (EA20, EA45).

NaOCL was activation inside the canals with EndoActivator device for 20 and 45 seconds respectively.

Then samples were taken from all canals ('S) and residual bacterial count was evaluated.

Differences among groups were analyzed by Anova and Bonferoni tests at (P < 0.05).

Results: The results showed that there were significant differences (P < 0.05) between groups.

The EA45 group was the superior in reducing the bacterial load (5.509, 91%) than other groups, and the count of bacteria in activated groups was less (EA45 = 0.523, EA20 = 0.991) than in inactivated groups (N20 = 2.01 , N45 = 1.12).

Conclusion: The Activation of 5.25% NaOCL by EndoActivator device for 45 seconds showed a significant effecacy in reducing the bacterial load of infected canals than unactivated NaOCL.
