Abstract EN

Background & Objective: Usually, it's hard to reach the final color identity with normal teeth when using full glass ceramic, but this matter is very important for the cosmetic successful of these restorations.

This in vitro study evaluated the effect of cement color on the final color of full crown glass ceramic of system IPS e.max.

Materials & Methods: The sample consists of 30 crowns (IPS e.max system) and two human recently extracted upper central incisors (first one is about A3, and the second is about B1), the teeth were prepared and used as a background color.

The ceramic sample was divided into two equal groups; group (1) was fabricated in color A3, and group (2) in color B1.

The resin cement color Try in material of type Variolink II Try-in was used in color A3 with all the crowns in the two groups with the appropriate background color.

Color coordinates L*a*b* were recorded before and after the application by using electrical shade matching device Vita Easyshade.

T-student analyze was used for statistics study.

Results: The resultant color change's mean by the effect of cement color was higher than the criterion value in the two groups of the sample (P <0.05).

Conclusions: Full glass crown ceramic of system IPS e.max is affected by the cement color more than the clinical acceptable limits.
