Abstract EN

Background & Objective: Partial veneer crown has appeared to prevent the excessive preparation of dental tissue with complete crown and the major reason success of this prosthesis could be strength of cementation.

Therefore the latest studies have been focusing on developing new material and technique to increase the bonding strength and using new technique for surface treatment or change type of metal alloy.

The aim of this search is to study the bonding resin cement strength to different type of metal alloy due to surface treatment.

Materials & methods One hundred and twenty cylinders has 5 mm in diameter and 4 mm in height and divided to 60 cylinders from Nickel- Cromium ( Ni-Cr ) alloys and 60 cylinders from pure Titanium (Ti), every two cylinders have been bonded together by using (Multilink ) resin cement, they were divided to four groups as : The first group ( Ni-Cr): treated with Aluminum oxide particles 50 µm and bonded together by resin cement. The second group (Ni-Cr): treated with Aluminum oxide and then Metal Zirconia Primer (MZP) before bonding by Multilink cement. The third group (Ti): treated with Aluminum oxide and bonded together .The fourth group(Ti): treated with Aluminum oxide and then Metal Zirconia Primer (MZP) before bonding .

Shear bond strength was applied upon the bonded cylinders until they were separated; data were recorded in Newton then were transferred to Megapascal and subsequently processed for statistical analysis using T-s tests to study the significant of various in means among groups and perform comparison between each two groups of them.

Results: The T-s tests indicated significant effect of combination the sandblasting technique (Aluminum Oxide particles 50 mm) with the applying of MZP before using resin cement(p-Value <0.05) independent of the metal used.

The highest means of bonding strength was revealed in the group of Ni-Cr treated with Aluminum Oxide particles of 50 mm and MZP which was (29.61 MPa).

Conclusion: The highest result of shear bonding strength was obtained in the combination of sandblasting technique with aluminum oxide particles and using MZP independent of the metal used.

Using MZP has increased the bonding strength with group of Ni-Cr compared with group of Ti.
