Abstract EN

The effect of partial replacement of mercury by thallium in Hg-2212 superconductor phase is studied.

Superconducting samples of the nominal composition (Hgx, Tl1-x)2 Ba2CaCu2Oδ+6 with x ranging from 0 to 0.3 are prepared under normal pressure by a one step of solid-state reaction technique.

The samples are characterized by using X-ray powder diffraction, electrical resistance and magnetic susceptibility measurements.

Powder X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the studied sample showed a main phase of (Hg,Tl)-2212 with tetragonal structure (space group P/4mmm).

The electrical resistance R(T) was measured as a function of temperature using the conventional four probe dc technique in the temperature range from 10 K to 300 K.

The superconducting parameters, such as superconducting transition temperature Tc , and critical current density Jc are calculated from electrical resistivity and AC-magnetic susceptibility measurements.
