This paper was conducted to examine the extent to which visually impaired students use learning technology and the impact it may have on their motivation.

Population sample comprised 60 students aging between 9 and 11 years and studying in private institutions in the Jordanian Capital Amman and Ma’daba during the academic year 2013/2014.

Students were divided into two groups: a group that uses technology and another that does not.

Interviews were conducted with the population sample and motivation test was administered to both groups.

Findings revealed that “Touch”/Tactile Technology such as tablets occupies the first place amongst technologies used by visually impaired students.

This is followed by Braille applications, Perkins Machine and then OPTIKON device in the last position.

Regarding audio technology, tape recorders came in the first position, followed by audio books, IBSAR program and Vigo Braille in the last position.

Results have also revealed the presence of statistically significant differences between the two groups in favor of students using learning technologies.

The paper recommends further studies relevant to the use of learning technology amongst visually impaired students along with the impact it may have on their motivation.

It also highlights the need to provide schools with such technology and train teachers to effectively use it to heighten students’ motivation and optimize their learning experience.
