The efficiency of Ceftriaxone sodium (CTX) as corrosion inhibitor for (α- brass) in filtered water at (25- 65) °C was studied using gravimetric methods and polarization technique.
The inhibitor showed (98.88%) inhibition efficiency at optimum concentration of 40 mgL-1.
Polarization tests suggest that the (CTX) can be classify as a mixed type inhibitor in filtered water.
The results obtained revealed that the adsorption of drug on α- brass follows Langmuir adsorption isotherm.
Both thermodynamic parameters (adsorption heat ΔH°ads, adsorption free energy ΔG°ads, and adsorption entropy ΔS°ads) and kinetic parameters (activation energy E°a, activation of enthalpy ΔHoa and entropy ΔS°a) were calculated and discussed.
