Abstract EN

The purpose of this study is to identify the level of functionality of academic departments heads at Princess Nora bint Abdul Rahman University (PNU) from the perspective of faculty members, and to identify the statistical differences between the faculty members responses according to (academic rank, experience, and college), and to offer suggestion to improve the performance of academic departments heads .

The study was designed to be a descriptive analytic study, utilizing a questionnaire to gather information.

The population of the study represents all faculty members at (PNU) a total of (615) faculty member in the first semester of the academic year 2012- 2013.

The sample of the study consisted of (123) faculty members, which is equivalent to (20%) of the study population.

The study results revealed that: Administrative tasks got the highest place in terms of the level of performance.

Educational tasks got second place in terms of the level of performance.

The third place was for scientific and research tasks, and tasks associated with the university and the community service.

Study suggestions received high approval by the sample of the study.
