Abstract EN

This research tackled the concept of the word (eye) and its connotations in the modern poetry, searching the concept of the (eye) in the language and explaining the connotations of this term in poetry in general and Sudanese poetry in particular as well as the way of including this concept in the folk poetry.

The researcher aims at understanding the meaning of the eye besides its connotations in the language and Arabic poetry and explaining the aspect in which the word (eye) is included in the modern poetry.

The researcher followed the descriptive analytical method.

Part of the results that the researcher has reached into is that the word (eye) has many linguistic meanings and the poet who includes the word (eye) in his poetry is considered of romantic nature.
