Abstract EN

We treat in this presentation the question of vowel in Arabic ،and its position relative to the consonant ، while starting from the grammatical tradition ،we appeal modern linguistics in order to distinguish in this treatment between the phonetic and phonological level.

And ،this leads us to affirm that the vowel follows the consonant usually speak in chain.

But it can be also be noted that certain words may be starting with a vowel.

From point of view phonological ،the vowel may be before or after the consonant ،as the context in which change happens phonological.

All the more we note that this study leads us to results concerning the structure of syllables in Arabic The key words: vowel – consonant – vowel function – linguistic value - phonetics – phonology
