Abstract EN

The Quran has gone through different periods of time and different difficult phases.

However, it has remained a preserved Scripture without any textual distortion.

God has promised to keep the Quranic text intact.

Also, the Companions and the Quran recitors have had an important role in this matter.

However, Uthman's role, in particular, is unique.

He established a methodological approach in the recordation process of the Quran and later on in the distribution of the different codices to the Muslim countries.

These codices have become to be known later on as the Uthmanic codices.

These codices have been written in a way that they have included the seven modes of reading which have been used in the reading of the Quran and which have embedded in the Quran's final reading.

The Uthmanic codices have significantly contributed to the preservation of the seven modes of reading which the Prophet Muhammad has informed us about: 'The Quran has been revealed in seven speech varieties'.

This paper argues that the collection and recordation of the Quran during Uthman's lifetime have not been haphazardly done in an improvised fashion Rather, it has been based on a methodological manner that is compatible with the approaches adopted by today's international universities.

Uthman has adopted well-planned collection and recordation techniques hinged upon specific prerequisites.
