Abstract EN
We encounter in the Quran newly coined words and syntactic structures that were not employed by the Arabs before the revelation of the Quran.
These have been called by Ibn Ashour as (al-mubtakaraat - the newly-coined expressions and structures).
Scholars before Ibn Ashour did not use this expression.
However, they employed different expressions such as (ibdaa' - creativity) and (ikhtiraa' – invention).
We encounter new word orders that are neither similar to poetry, prose, nor oration.
There are new word orders that employ foregrounding and backgrounding.
There are new word orders that employ identical ayah-final expressions.
There are new word orders that employ story-telling styles which narrate the reward and punishment in the hereafter.
However, the style remains inimitable.
There are new word orders that employ an elevated style of simile and affirmation using different expressions.
Different meanings can be derived from the words used.
The sentences refer to restricted meanings s uch as those that refer to God's omnipotence and legislation.
The style of inclusion has been employed in a unique fashion.
Verbosity is used in a rhetorical manner.
Ellipsis and succinctness are employed without causing semantic ambiguity.
Embellishments are employed in a new fashion.
Ibn Ashour claims that (i) the Arabs before Islam did not use the expression (salsabeelaa).
However, it is used in the Quran to describe something that is extremely easy, (ii) the structure (dhata bainikum) that denotes the same thing and reality was not used before, (iii) the expression (faraddu aidiyahum ila afwahihim) to signify objection, and (iv) the expression (yawman yaj'alu al-wildaana sheebaa) to indicate the hardship of a situation.
Ibn Ashour has provided 28 newly coined words and syntactic structures in the Quran.
No exegete has referred to these at all.
However, his argument remains to be investigated and critically analysed.
Other scholars, however, have claimed that there are examples which indicate that the Arabs before the advent of islam used to use such expressions and structures.
