The tip of tongue sounds has been the focus of sound change in the adjacent rhymed words which are chosen as a substitute for one or two sounds in the following word.

This draws our attention to some interesting phonetic objectives, namely the confirmation of the first word meaning, its clarity in the mind of the hearer, avoiding the repetition of the first word, providing a word with tip of tongue sounds that are phonetically attractive and easy to pronounce.
