Abstract EN
This study aims to investigate an important era in the history of the Ottoman Empire in the first half of the nineteenth century when the Wilaayat Misr ruler occupied Bilaad Al-Shaam (the Levant) and some parts of Asia Minor, and the Ottoman Sultan's pursuit to ally with the European countries to stop him.
An analytical descriptive and historical approach is employed in this investigation which mainly relies upon the Egyptian Royal archives.
The results demonstrate that this conflict as well as the European intervention didn't achieve any concrete victory for the sovereignty of the Ottoman State on its land.
On the contrary, this conflict made the Ottoman State and the Egyptian sub-state subject to externally imposed decisions by the European countries.
