Abstract EN

This study examined the historical roots of Halayib conflict taking into consideration the uniqueness of the relationship between Sudan and Egypt that has started from the common history, eternal neighborhood, Nile ligament, religion and language.

The importance of this study stems from the fact that it dealt with a vital issue affecting the sovereignty and the national territory of Sudan because of the border dispute which created a sense of distrust that reflected negatively on the relations between the two countries in all spheres.

The researcher adopted the historical descriptive and analytical methodology in explaining the divergent views on the border conflict.

The study recommended the need to resolve the border issue of Halayib decisively and permanantly and the promotion of mutual cooperation in all fields، so that peace, stability and interests of the two peoples can be realized.
