English Abstract

Ihe linguistic sign is double faced : the first facc is concrete (it is callcd the significant) and the sccond one is abstract (callcd the significr).

Its function resides in enhancing the speaker's understanding of his universe by classifying it into mental categories that link the unlimited diversity' of the world to the acoustic forms which define this world.

This means that language mastery is the basis of manipulating the competence of its classification and abstraction.

This early method of organization is reflected in the lexicographic definition and more prcciscly in the logic definition.

We aim in the present article to focus on the structure of the lexicographic definition which varies according to the treatment linked to the features of the sign to get a linguistic definition and the treatment related to the references of the sign to get a logic definition.

To achieve this aim, wc dcparc from the definition attributed to words belonging to a specific given scientific classification in the general dictionary.

Then, we move to deal with the semantic structure of the definition, aiming at a better understanding of the way words emerge, the semantic relations between them, and the goals that regroup them.

'Ihe corpus of our study is made up of three terminologically meaningful nouns treated by two Arabic dictionaries : Al-Wassit and Mu‘djam al-Lugha al-Arabiyya al-Mu‘assira, and one French dictionary : Lc Petit Robert.

C’est grace a cetre classification que les ecres humains pcuvcnt ctablir une liaison entre l’univcrs infini ct les formes acoustiques qui les indiquent.

C'cst-a-dire pour micux organiser la langue il faudrait d’abord la categoriscr.

Ccttc pratique ancienne est reflette dans la definition lcxicographique et plus prccistmcnt dans la definition logique.

Nous nous pcnchons dans cct articic sur la structure de la definition Icxicographiquc qui varie selon le traitcment: - Traitcmcnt lie aux caracteristiques du signe : la definition est linguistique ; - Traitcmcnt lie aux references du signc : la definition est logique .

Parmi les definitions logiques, on decouvrc la definition hypcronymique, qui s’appliquc csscmidlcmcnt en terminologie scientifiquc.

Ccttc definition dcvrait etre, ideaJcment, unc condition neccssaire et suffisante (CNS); e’est a dire ne pas etre ni tres rcscreinte, ni tr^s vastc.

Une definition lcxicographique logique devrait etre composec d’un classificateur et de distingueurs qui departagcnt les mcmbres d’une mcme classc : Un dassificatcur, qui est I’hypcronyme ou 1’induant, dcsigne la categoric ou le genre du mot traite, ct les distingueurs, qui sont les hyponymcs ou les proprietes qui distingucnt les genres des cspcccs.

Mais cc systeme de comprehension du Iangage naturel se heurtc cn general au problcmc esscnticl du Iangage humain.

Dans cet article, nous partirons d’un constat: beaucoup d’unites linguistiqucs sont a la fois polycategorielles ct polysemiqucs.

La finalite des definitions des dictionnaires est essenticllcmcnt d’ordrc pratique.

Nous eherchons a partir du dictionnaire arabe moderne les problematiqucs qu on peut soulever de ce paradoxe ct les moyens quc fournit une eventucllc structuration logique de I'ariicle afin dc rendre au lexique sa rcgularite.
