English Abstract

Homonymy and polyscmic words may well he viewed as one of the salient phenomena that pervade most natural languages.

Making use of homonymy and polyscmic words enables ideal listeners / speakers to express themselves by using a limited set of lexical items in illimited linguistic contexts and situations, 'ihis phenomenon is ol»erved, in a large measure, in the Amazigh language and is responsible of its lexical richness.

A whole range of linguistic theories have tried to provide a comprehensive account of homonymy and polyscmic words, among which we can mention the theory of verb valency.

This theory is a syntactic-semantic theory that attempts to study the verb on the basis of its nature, semantic features as well as the number of acceptable positions in which it occurs.

In this paper, we have experimented this theory in the domain of dictionary elaboration on the basis of the valency-model of Engel (1977).

The following five axes are developped through out the paper : - Homonymy and polysemic vyords: definition and typology.

- Reasons underlying the appearance of homonyms and polysemic words in standard Amazigh.

- 'Ihe ordering of homonyms and polysemic words in the multi-lingual Amazigh scholar vocabulary book.

- The macro and microstructure of valency vocabulary books.

- The ordering of homonyms and polysemic words in a teaching-oriented Amazigh vocabulary book project.

French Abstract

Parmi les phenomena linguistiqucs qui caracterisent les langucs naturcllcs, il y a ccux dc la polyscmic ct de l’homonymie.

Ces deux phcnomcncs contribuent i la richessc de la compctcncc Icxicale de tout locuteur / interlocutcur ideal d’unc langue.

Ils permertent ainsi d’utiliser un nombre limitc d'unitcs lexicales pour cxprimer un nombre illimite dc contcxtcs linguistiqucs.

La langue amazighc fait partic dc ccs langucs qui s'appuient sur la polyscmic Ct I’homonymie afin d’enrichir son lexique.

Ij theorie dc la valcncc verbale comptc parmi les theories linguistiqucs qui ont aborde Ics phcnomcnes de la polys<5mie et dc l’homonymic.

Cette theorie traite syntaxiquemcnt ct scmantiqucmcnt le verbe en ce qui concerne lr nombre dc ccs valences, leurs types ei aussi leurs traits scmanriques ct tout cela scion des contcxtcs qui sont possibles ct acceptables syntaxiqucmcm ct semantiquement.

Ccttc communication a pour objectif d’expcrimcntcr cette theorie, dans le domaine de la confection des dictionnaircs, a partir du modele de la valcncc verbale chcz Engel (1977).

Elle sera rcpartie en cinq axes : - Definition et types dc la polysemie et de I’homonymie ; - I.es raisons de l'apparition dc la polyscmic ct de l'homonymie dans la langue amazighc standard ; - Lc classcmcnt des mors polys^miqucs ct homonymiqucs dans le lexique scolaire multilingue mixtc amazighc; - La macrostructure et la microstructure dans les dictionnaires de valence ; - Lc classcmcnt des mors polyserniqucs ct homonymiqucs dans un projet de dictionnaire dc valcncc d’apprenrissage amazighc.
