Soft soils show undesirable engineering characteristics.

They incline to weak shear resistance.

They can be plastic and compressible.

Execution of embankments and other constructions on such soft soils is challenge in geotechnical engineering.

At the same time, building on weak soils became more important as a result of rapid constructional expansion in civilized areas in all over the world due to population growth.

This research aims to use reinforcement by Geogrid to strengthen soft soils and improve its specifications.

This research verifies that Geogrid reinforcement between dam and the surface of soft soil increases stiffness of soft soil and prevents embankment collapse.

Reinforcing by Geogrid will be one of methods to increase stiffness of weak layer in the studied area.

In addition, it allows getting high tensile and bending resistance.
