limatic factors and temperature variation is consider the main reason which effect the performance of asphalt mixture, the main distresses in the pavement is permanent deformation, fatigue cracking, low temperature cracking.
In this study performance Grade (PG) for Jordan and Syria were determined by depended on the temperature for the maximum 7 days and lowest day for a record of 20 years based on the superpave, also classification for different types of asphalt from both countries were determine, based on this data maps prepared for Jordan and Syria to determine every type of asphalt where used.
Different type of asphalt mixtures are prepared using steel slag in the mixture with percent (15, 30, 45)% as part of coarse aggregate, also limestone mixture.
Three ways of design for asphalt mixture were followed in this study Superpave , Marshall, compenation between the two ways called Superpave Marshall.
The main test had taken for the asphalt mixtures were Fatigue test, Indirect Tensile Strength, Loss of Indirect Tensile Strength , Stability, Resilient modulus, from the main results for this work the suitability of steel slag for use in asphalt mixtures.
The use of (30)% of steel was the optimal percent.
Also the results of the design of superpave give the best results when comparative with marshall in all properties of the mixtures with limestone and steel, the stability in marshall design give about (80)% of the stability of superpave.
