Abstract EN

Choosing between actions that contain benefits (masalih) and harms (mafasid) needs a deep look and investigation to weigh them and then decide which one to apply.

Sometimes, a single action may contain a number of benefits and harms which differ in terms of strength, effect, and possibility of occurrence.

All these make the process of evaluation and selection a difficult and complicated mental task.

The aim of this research is to apply numerical method to weigh and assess actions that contain both benefits and harms, especially when it impossible to achieve the benefits and avoid harms at the same time.

The proposed method estimate all the benefits and harms, contained within the action, numerically in order to be mathematically added to work out the overall value of the benefits.
