This paper intends to shed light on the importance of al-Syyyuti's book Tanasuq al-Durar fî Tanasub al-Suwar in the Quranic and rhetorical studies.

It begins with clarifying the necessity for studying the background of the Quranic chapters (Suras).

The controversy among Mushm scholars regarding the sequence of chapters (Suras), Ijtihad, is also tackled.

Then a discussion of the types of backgrounds follows.

The paper concludes with some remarks on the value and effect of the book on Quranic studies.
