Since their emergence, terrorist groups have been recruiting youth of diverse nationalities to carry out their terrorist acts, and due to the seriousness of this issue, study seeks to identify the role of police in preventing youth from being lured into terrorist groups amid the growing numbers of youth being enlisted.

What drives youth to join terrorist groups? How youth are lured into terrorist groups? And what is role of police in safeguarding youth from the risks of joining terrorist groups? Are the questions to which study seeks to provide answers.

Study sums up with numerous findings, major among them are the fact of persistent existence of terrorist groups at both international and regional levels and their relentless pursuit of enlisting youth as they are (youth) enthusiastic, daring and physically fit to fight and carry out terrorist acts.

Another finding is that police bodies should enhance their youth - oriented strategies to instill sense of loyalty and belonging to community in youth and moreover protect youth from the risks involved in joining terrorist groups.

Study also sums up with a number of recommendations, key among them are the urgent need of police to develop strategies intended to foil any attempt by terrorist groups to recruit youth, and to create a database in which all information relevant to youth, particularly problems and challenges facing them, are collected and analyzed.

Study recommends making use of such information in conducting police, social and economic studies on one hand and for further development of strategies intended to protect youth from joining terrorist groups on the other.
