Abstract EN
NixMg6-xAl2O9 mixed oxides are obtained by calcination under air at 800 °C of samples prepared via hydrotalcite route, with 0 ≤ x ≤ 6, x being the molar ratio.
These oxides were impregnated with 0.5 wt.% ruthenium using ruthenium (III) nitrosyl nitrate Ru(NO)(NO3)3 precursor and then calcinated again at 800 °C under an air flow.
The prepared oxides have been characterized, before and after ruthenium addition, by temperature programmed reduction (TPR) and tested in methane dry reforming.
Metallic nickel was the active species.
Ruthenium impregnation enhanced the reactivity of the oxides and their selectivity towards methane dry reforming.
The good reactivity and selectivity of ruthenium based catalysts were attributed to the formation of easily reducible ruthenium and nickel oxide species at the catalyst surface
