Abstract EN

The research explored the justifications for the Palestinians’ rejection for the Jewish immigration to Palestine (in the period from 1930 to 1936) through an analysis for the Palestinian political discourse.

This period witnessed a flow of the Jewish immigrants from different countries, posing several challenges to the Palestinian society (political, economic, social, cultural, ethical and security related) , This required a new Palestinian political discourse to fit the size of such risk.

The study showed that the grounds for the Palestinian refusal to Jewish Immigration were (political, national, historical, religious, ethical, cultural, security related, and economic) .

It also showed that these justifications were not of the same importance.

The rationale of economy and security were the most powerful because of the Immigrants’ sheer risk on the Palestinian economy and security and, the interests of the bourgeois and feudal classes who have drafted a new political discourse against immigration.

It was noted in the study that there is a Palestinian consensus on rejecting all forms of immigration despite all political contradictions in the Palestinian arena.

This rejection, nevertheless, was not accompanied by a clear and practical program to deal with the Jewish immigration as the most dangerous challenge from the viewpoint of the Palestinians
