Abstract EN

Educational counseling is a group of services which aim to help the student to understand themselves and their abilities and social and professional possibilities and exploit them to achieve thier goals.

The task of counseling is achieved by persons specialized in this field to help the student to the psychological adjustment and emotional balance who are educational counselors.

However, there are many obstacles that have affected the process of educational counseling.

Therefore we decided to conduct this study, which aims to reveal the problems facing the work of educational counselor in secondary schools.

In order to achieve the objective of the study, we relied on the descriptive method to reach the results, analyze and interpret them after treating the results of the questionnaire, which was applied on the sample of the research consisting of 20 educational counselor from some secondary schools in Algiers and Boumerdes.

The results showed that the sample agree to face some of the problems that hinder them from performing their duties
