Abstract EN

The research aimed to assess the level of the information security illiteracy amongthe students of Libraries and Information science departments in Iraqi universities and the relationship to courses offered by these universities.

The study adopted the survey method for data collection and analysis, also used the questionnaire to collect data from a sample of students.

The most notably findings are: 1.

There is awareness among the students library and information science of the importance of protecting the information and what information is to be protected.

2.

There is lack of coverage of information security topics in the computer courses offered to library and information science students.

The major recommendation emerging from the research, was to develop a specialized course that covers information security as well as developing the detailed description of the content of the course.
