Abstract EN

The study aimed at identifying the effectiveness of a therapeutic cognitive behavior counseling program in the treatment of depression due to HIV infection, and to identify the differences in depression level among the experimental infected group according to the variables of: social status and the duration of the infection.

The population is composed of the individuals infected with HIV in the integrated care centers in Southern Darfur State whose `number is (428).

The sample size is (60) divided into two similar groups: experimental and controlled groups .Each of which is composed of 30 individuals, 15 males and 15 females chosen deliberately.

Aeron Beck's scale of depression is used after it has been standardized.

A therapeutic counseling program for the treatment of depression is designed and implemented after standardization.

The SPSS statistical program is used to analyze the data.

The research reaches the following results: differences are found in the levels of depression between the experimental and controlled groups after implementing the program in favor of the experimental group, no differences are found in depression level among the subjects of the experimental group in the post test due to social status and education level variables.

The researchers recommend that the counseling program is to be officially used in the counseling and integrate care centers of South Darfur ,and suggested that the efficiency of the program is to be tested on samples of the depressive patients infected with HIV in the states of the Sudan.
