Erbil women played an important role in political life during the years 1945 -1963 through their participation in the organizations of secret political parties ( i.e.

the Iraqi communist party and Kurdistan Democratic party ) , and professional associations and demonstrations.

This article deals with the subject through three topics .

The first one tackles Erbil womens role in secret Iraqi and Kurdish political parties, with reference to the most significant areas of party work in which they participated .

The second topic deals with their role in the activities of the masses, like demonstrations and protests.

The third topic examines the role of Erbil women in Iraqi and kurdistani women unions, specifically the "Association for the Defence of women in Iraq" and " Kurdistan women union" .
