Abstract EN

This study aims to examine effectiveness of a training program on developing reading alphabetical letters and remembering them for students with intellectual disabilities.

A single subject design (ABAB) was utilized with 5 students with intellectual disabilities in an elementary school.

Participants range from 7 to 9 years old and from 65 to 68 IQ tests.

The training program based on sight word that supported by using computer to train students in this study .

Results showed that the training program helped participants for developing their abilities to read and recall alphabetical letters.

In addition, a set of recommendations for future research and practices in teaching reading for students with intellectual disability was discussed.

Specially, the importance of giving instructions to the student clearly, explicitly, and the importance of following-up continuously and intensively.
