The aim of the present study is to examine supportive services and their role in the quality of the academic life of deaf and hard of hearing students in high education.

This study used the descriptive method – study tools were designed according to study aims and questions.

The sample consisted of 185 male and female deaf and hard of hearing students.

Generally, supportive services had “accepted” degree, and the most important items are: university acceptance procedures are easy and flexible, sign language interpreters are available.

The results showed that students did not accept completely the next items: there are FM and recording devices in classrooms, there is a club for deaf and hard of hearing students in university that provide cultural activities.

On the other hand, the outcomes related to the quality of academic life were “accepted” in general, which included: attending all lectures; perceiving that high education will meet the vocational needs.

Regarding the relationship between supportive services and the quality of academic life, the study found a strong positive correlation between what is provided for the deaf and hard of hearing students and the quality of their academic life.

The study recommended of benefitting from the international experiments providing service for deaf and hard of hearing students in high education, through an advanced model for supportive services designed by experts in special education, and adopted by ministry of education in order to be applied in all colleges and universities
