The science of the Islamic legal sources (usul alfiqh) is one of the sciences that deserve attention despite the interest paid to the other fields of study.

If the teacher or the student pay much attention to the Arab linguistic heritage left over the centuries by well-known linguists in Arabic language and the contributions that these linguists made, people wont have to the forget or turn a blind eye to the contributions made by others at the linguistic, phonetic, morphological, grammatical, and semantic levels.

The scholars of the Islamic legal sources are among them Since our topic comes under a section of semantics, the science of Islamic legal sources (usul efiqh) is studies the meanings of words and sentences taking into account the text and the context.

The contributions of these scholars to the field of semantic are indisputable.

They used many of the findings of the semantic researches in extracting legislations from the Koran and sunnah the sayings (hadiths) the prophet (peace be upon him).

We may even say that they tackled many of the questions in modern semantic research.

Among the semantic questions that we will tackle in this research is the conventional meanings and its effects on extraction of the Islamic norms..
