English Abstract

This study sheds light on corporate finance practices in Morocco, a newly emerging market.

Using survey data for companies listed on Casablanca Stock Exchange, this study focuses on capital budgeting, capital structure, real option, and cost of capital estimation.

It determines the most and the least capital budgeting techniques used by CFOs of Moroccan companies.

It also compares the results with findings of similar studies in Canada, USA, and other European countries.

Evidence shows that financial managers of CSE-listed firms use less sophisticated techniques to evaluate investment opportunities.

In contrast to managers’ practices in developed markets, Moroccan managers rank theoretically weak methods as very important.

Unlike other countries, very limited number of Moroccan managers use real options
