Islam affirms the freedom to everyone to choose the religion he wants.
It is not permissible in Islam to force anyone to enter into it, and this is confirmed by the texts of the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet.
The biography of the Prophet, peace be upon him, with the Jews, the Christians and others testifies that he did not force anyone to enter into the religion of Islam, but he left them free to choose their religion.
But Islam does not allow Muslims to renounce the religion of Islam after he entered into it voluntarily, therefore, proceeded to the punishment the apostate has a philosophy for that legislation.
There are some researchers who think that the punishment of the apostate is left to the authority of the guardian in the Islamic State, and some people think that it would be in the day of Judgment.

L’Islam reconnaît à l’homme le libre choix de sa religion et ceci est catégoriquement tranché par les textes du Coran et de la Sunna du Prophète.
La manière dont s’est comporté le Prophète Muhammad avec les Juifs, les Chrétiens et les autres personnes non musulmanes témoigne que le Prophète n’a jamais contraint quiconque à embrasser l’Islam et qu’il a laissé les Gens du Livre libres de demeurer dans leur religion.
Ainsi, l’Islam n’autorise pas le musulman à renoncer à sa confession après y avoir cru de son plein gré et a établi, pour cela, la punition de l’apostasie.
Il ya certains chercheurs qui croient que la punition de l'apostat est laissée à l'autorité du tuteur dans l'Etat Islamique, et certains pensent qu'elle aura lieu le jour du Jugement.
