English Abstract

Optical fiber communication system uses an optical fiber cable, as a medium in which the information is transmitted from one place to another, in the form of light guided through fiber cables.

Optical fiber introduces a huge bandwidth because traditional copper wires transmit electrical currents, while fiber optic technology sends pulses of light along optical fibers.

In this thesis, we proposed optical fiber cable of length Z with Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) system.

Pulse spreading caused by linear effects in optical fiber due to dispersion in this proposed system.

Thus, it has been investigated the impact of dispersion on crosstalk between adjacent channels.

This thesis also shows some of the characteristics of this proposed system such as refractive index, group refractive index, group delay, material dispersion parameter and Group Velocity Dispersion (GVD) parameter.

Results show how channel spacing, fiber core radius and spatial shift affect on the crosstalk.

Furthermore, we investigated the effect of new factors on crosstalk like fiber length, chirp parameter and refractive index profile parameter.
