It is increasingly difficult to maintain the security of societies in the face of global challenges and recent developments.

Among the factors that help to spread security in society is the development of students’ awareness through public education institutions in general and schools in particular.

In spite of the recommendations and suggestions yielded by meetings, seminars and conferences to conduct studies in the field of security awareness and the extent of the contribution of the school to achieve it, the researcher noted the lack of studies on the subject of security awareness among female students.

Therefore, the need to recognize the level of role played by the secondary school to develop security awareness among female students was necessary.

This was done by answering the following questions : 1- What is the level of the secondary school role in the development of security awareness among female students in Al-Madinah al-Munawwarah ? This question answers the following sub-questions : A- What is the level of the secondary school role in developing security awareness related to intellectual security among female students ? B- What is the level of the secondary school role in developing security awareness related to the national affiliation among the female students ? 2- Do the sample opinions differ on the level of secondary school role in developing the security awareness among the female students according to the variables of (job, academic ualifications, years of experience and training courses) ? The study followed the descriptive approach.

It relied on a questionnaire for the secondary school roles, and is divided into two main themes : The security awareness related to intellectual security, it contained (16) phrases.

And security awareness related to national affiliation and included (13) phrases.

In the second semester of the academic year 1434 / 1435 A.H, the questionnaire was applied on a randomized stratified sample of 19 female managers, 25 female deputies, 17 female counselors and 183 female teachers.

After conducting internal and virtual honesty and stability testing, the following statistical methods were applied : frequencies, percentages, standard deviation, average, mono-variance analysis, independent sample testing, Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann Whitney test.

The study yielded the following findings : • The secondary school plays its role in developing the security awareness among the female students in Al-Madinah al-Munawwarah at an average level from the point of view of the study sample with an average of 3.07.

• The secondary school plays its role in developing the security awareness related to intellectual security among the female students at an average level from the point of view of the study sample with an average of 3.02.

• The secondary school plays its role in developing the security awareness related to national affiliation among the female students at an average level from the point of view of the study sample with an average of 3.15.

The findings of the study also revealed that there were no statistically significant differences in the opinions of the sample on the level of the secondary school role in developing the security awareness among the female students according to the following variables : Job, academic qualifications, years of experience and training courses in security awareness.

In light of the findings of the study, a number of recommendations and suggestions were put in place to increase the effectiveness of the school roles in achieving security awareness among female students.

The most prominent of those recommendations and suggestions are : 1- Care should be given to students’ councils within secondary schools and they should be activated.

Female students should be involved and should contribute to the activities that deal with issues related to the reality of student security.

2- Visits to historical and cultural sites in the Kingdom should be made for female students, where the study revealed that the level of the school role in organizing such visits is weak.

3- Student counseling programs in schools should be activated.

This is to be achieved in cooperation with specialists in psychology and sociology, in the design of programs concerned with early detection of behavioral and social problems among female students.

4- Managers, deputies and teachers should be provided with knowledge and skills necessary to implement their roles in the development of the security awareness among female students, this is to be done in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior.

5- Joint committees between the ministry of interior and the ministry of education should be formed.

Such committees should plan programs, activities and events necessary to implement security education programs.

6-The study suggests conducting a similar study on the role of the school in developing the security awareness among female students in different educational stages.

Also, it suggests conducting another study on other topics such as : community security and safety, security system and confidence in it, the imposition of security values and culture and introducing security authorities and institutions.
