Value Media Determinism Theory is one of comtemporary normal theories in communication that is associated with the writing of Abderrahmane Azzi since the mid 1980s.

This study identifies and clarifies concepts and issues that are often raised by scholars and communication students not familiar with this new way of inquiry.

The study answers questions relating to the nature of values, determinism and tools of VDT as the notion of binary opposition in research applications.

The study further delinates the position of VDT vis-à-vis other communiction theories and also the islamic communicatin tradition.

Finally, the study states the main conceptual tools that made VDT a major trend in communiation research in the region and abroad.
