Conformation des mamelles, propreté des vaches et état des trayons chez deux grands élevages (Tunisie littorale semi-aride)‎

The present investigation, which was devoted to the assessment of the conformation of the udders, the cleanliness of the cows and the condition of the teats from observations and notations while using pointing grids, was carried out on a sample of two large cattle herds in a semi-arid environment (Sousse region, Tunisia Littoral), one private (Gloulou-Sidi Bou Ali) and the other state (OTD-Enfidha), subjected to mechanical milking in room.

The findings showed that the majority of cows have a good conformation of the udders (practically more than 60%) and teats (almost more than 70 %).

For the cleanliness characteristics of the cows, the situation was good for the rearing of Gloulou (74 % of the clean udders) and considered average for the herd of the OTD (67 % of the cows with average cleanliness).

Abnormal teats were observed frequently in the two herds monitored.

In fact, the most noticeable anomaly in the Gloulou rearing was teat congestion, but in OTD rearing, the most frequentab anomaly was hyperkeratosis.
