Abstract EN

By making the best use of pastoral areas in the Saharan territory, The camel is by by excellence the only species to adapt to the local ecological harshness.

It is both a converter of a meager vegetation into vital products and a factor of ecological equilibrium under extremely restrictive conditions.

It is from this, that the present synthesis reveals the role that this animal incarnates in a hostile context (h'mil system).

Whereas an original peri-oasis type of breeding system is established in the vicinity of urban areas.

Thus was born between the cameleer and the Camel an intimate relationship where the adaptation performances of the animal and its productions (meat, milk and hair) make this species a vital element as much for Man as for the Saharan territory.
