A period 1979-2012 experienced fluctuation in the production of electric power in the province of Basra, where there was a big evolution in the production of electric energy through seventies and eighties and continued this development until the end of the eighties.

While the nineties and the beginning of the first decade of the millennium plants exposed to the bombing and vandalism and looting which led to a decline in the production of electrical energy compared to the continuous increase in the demand for this energy until the present day.

It should be noted that the demand for electric power in Basra province is in continuous increase as a result of economic developments, growing populations, rising per capita income and climatic conditions, especially in the summer.

So researchers confirms the need to allocate more than 15% of the total production in order to satisfy the maximum demands on the grounds that the Basra province is characterized by a location important strategically.
