The paper tackles the Irish novelist's, Lord Dunsany's, novel The Curse of the Wise Woman as a projection of pagan practices which still lurks in the minds of the simple people who find in them a sanctuary from the industrial advancement in Ireland which imposed on people a certain life-style.

The novel is a panorama of the gradual disappearance of Ireland of myths and legends and Ireland of political turmoil and religious conflict.
