The port of Djen Djen is considered the most important port in the Mediterranean, in terms of spaces and deep water.
International Hub and Pole of attractiveness, a project for the wilaya of Jijel, could this port constitute an important engine for the development of the territory? At present, its impact on economic growth in the region is still weak.
To elucidate this problem and to understand why the wilaya of Jijel, having such a port does not succeed in raising itself economically, we will use a deductive and multidisciplinary approach.
Two hypotheses seem to explain the situation: the first consists in the physical enclavement of the wilaya, the second is built around a development strategy capable of anticipating the future of the port by two major axes: A synergy between the latter and the steel complex of Bellara and the construction of a container terminal, through which the port of Djen Djen will become a gateway to the Mediterranean for the countries of the Sahel via the Trans-Saharan.

Le port de Djen Djen est considéré comme le plus important ouvrage portuaire en Méditerranée, en termes d’espaces et eau profonde.
Hub international et Pôle d’attractivité, en projet pour la wilaya de Jijel, ce port pourrait-il constituer un important moteur pour le développement du territoire ? Actuellement son impact est encore faible en matière de croissance économique de la région.
Pour élucider cette problématique et comprendre pourquoi la wilaya de Jijel, disposant d’un tel port n’arrive pas à se hisser sur le plan économique, nous utiliserons une démarche déductive et pluridisciplinaire.
Deux hypothèses semblent expliquer la situation: la première consiste en l'enclavement physique de la wilaya, la deuxième s’articule autour d’une stratégie de développement capable d’anticiper le devenir du port par deux axes majeurs, qui sont :la création d’une synergie entre ce dernier et le complexe sidérurgique de Bellara et la réalisation d’un terminal à conteneurs, à travers lequel, le port de Djen Djen deviendra une porte sur la méditerranée pour les pays du sahel via la transsaharienne.
