Abstract EN

Political participation is considered as one of the main topics that researchers in social sciences and humanities studied, and that is due to essential role of political participation in building democratic institutions, and promoting democratic approach.

It is through multiple channels of political participation that individuals can coordinate their abilities and potentials, and carry out activities to enable them to participate in public decision-making or influencing decisions.

This field comparative study aims at identifying the students' attitudes , concerns, and contributions towards political participation in Jordan , based on the principle of political awareness development of the university student necessitating political participation, enabling them to participate in change and reform and decision making.

The study population consisted of a random sample of students from both Yarmouk Government University and Philadelphia Private University, from different specialties and levels, males and females.

After data collection and statistical analysis, the study results revealed significant statistical differences between the two universities students in their attitudes and concerns towards political participation, and the extent of their participation in political activities.

The study results showed that the extent of university student's participation in political activities is still weak, especially political parties activities, despite the fact that the participants in the study are highly aware of the importance of political participation in the community, and they recognize that their participation would be effective in changing the political reality.
