Abstract EN

This study addresses the foreign policy of Russia towards the Syrian crisis (2011-2016) using the decision making approach and drawing on two main hypotheses: first the foreign policy of Russia dealt with the Syrian Crisis as being a turning point for affecting structural changes in the world order by marginalizing the individual American global leadership and establishing a multipolar system.

Secondly, the Russian position from the Syrian crisis is governed by global and regional dimensions rather than internal and domestic ones.

In conclusion both hypotheses were proven and the study found that the global and regional limitations surrounding Russia have played a key role in Russ's diplomatic and military support for the Syrian regime.
