The use of nuclear techniques, particularly ionizing radiation, in applied Entomology is only little over a century old.

The contribution of ionizing radiation to this field, however, is indispensable.

In fact, ionizing radiation provided a very important tool for solving many applied (and research) problems.

This article reviews the most important applications of ionizing radiation in the area of bee keeping industry.

In particular, it concentrates on the role of ionizing radiation in honey bee disease control, insect pest control, bee keeping and its effects on honey.

It also discusses the advantages and difficulties in applying this technology in the bee keeping industry.
