Abstract EN

After a short history on the mental health and the mental disorders (concepts and theories), this article discuss the mental health in Algeria in a sociological, economic and political context through the evolution of psychiatry in Algeria, the policy of mental health as well as the epidemiologic situation (health through the figures), while putting in value difficulties as regards psychiatric infrastructures and psychiatric personnel, as well as progress, and projects both on ministry level or field.
