The pottery of Sidi Semiane is the most outstanding female pottery.

Old and of primary nature regarding its material and techniques, it is based on decorations, motifs or tools, this pottery has not known any changing or evolution, as female potters have been perpetuating the same practice since ancient times.

Far from being unique, the tradition exists in several North African regions.

The modeled North African pottery, both by virtue of its techniques or its utility function, continues to be linked to a number of believes thoughts, customs, rituals and very distant anthropological usages.

Though saved in extremis, its progressive phasing out (lack of succession) and economic development led to the lost of the symbolism of many decorative signs.
