Abstract EN

As clearly stated the title of this contribution, the trip of Isabelle Eberhardt in Algeria is among the countless writings that were the subject of a socio-cultural confrontation and who have registered in the history of travel writing rich text representations, reflections and descriptions which the indigenous society was the main theme.

The case of Isabella, finds its originality in its corresponding position to able to approach closely to local society and therefore it is the travel writer guy who helped write the other in within its culture.

From this convenient location, this study tries to develop a reflection on the subject of local women in the writings of Isabelle Eberhardt.

Our questioning is moving towards a reading about the Algerian woman and her performances, including one tries to break the possible influence of the stereotyped image of the oriental woman often installed in travel writing destinée- first lieutenant Western readers influenced by various meetings between East and West and especially fascinated by the ideas of the wonderful and exotic origin of the translations of "Arabian Nights." In this perspective, our approach attempts to analyze the image of women and its possible relationship with the autobiography which can form some writing to be, and the legacy of orientalist fantasy and its various stereotypes.
