Abstract EN

This study aimed at examining the impact of the costs of the production of the cement commodity on the produced quantities of cement in Sudan during the period 2002-2014 through designing a two equations model, which explained the relationship between costs and production, and its impact on the cement production.

The study hypothesis argued that increasing production costs may increase the price of the cement commodity compared to the other producing countries, as well as the existence of an inverse relationship between production and costs.

The study adopted the historical method to review the previous studies, and the analytical statistical approach to estimate the regression model and data analysis.

The study main findings indicated that the cost of imported capital goods for production from abroad and labor constituted a large proportion of the total cost, followed by electricity, fuel, and basic services, which constituted 20% of the total variable costs.

Moreover, the factories do not achieve the optimal size of the production according to their specified productive capacity.

The study called for enabling the factories to achieve the optimum size that achieves efficiency through reducing costs and deregulation of the cement industry.
