Abstract EN

After the French campaign and the conquest of Egypt and the contact of Orient and Occident through the scientific expeditions, many Arab poets who left to the West were affected by the new literature.

The influence has touched everything including the thoughts, feelings and imaginations of the immigrant poets, but in the 20 centuries they were strongly affected by major events including the World War II which resulted in political and economic decline in addition to the failure of the Arab Revolutions which in turn has created state of disappointment and regret.

Following Palestine War and the Annakbah (Setback) War, the Arabs and the Arab poets felt alienated and lost.The study, hence, aims to explore the qualities of each of the poets mentioned in the dissertation and the characteristics of their schools.

To investigate the characteristic of the modern Arab poetry, the researcher has adopted descriptive analytical approach and came up with following conclusions: The modern Arab poetry is fertile area, so more studies are needed conducted on this field.The modern Arab poet has reacted with everyday life and global issues without losing their identities amid the contact with others.
